EMUI 9.0 is Huawei’s newest Android skin based on Android 9 Pie. This software will ship on the Mate 20 series of devices and funnel out to other devices later on this year. This version of contains all the additions you know and love from stock Android 9 plus some nice goodies. Huawei emphasized they’ve made menus easier to understand and reduced the number of options by 10%. This will make the software, not only more responsive, but also less of a headache for you and your less tech savvy friends and family.
HiVision allows users to scan their surroundings using their camera and identify landmarks and works of art. HiTouch allows the user to scan their camera or gallery to identify an object and shop for it online.
Easy Projection will assist users with sending images and videos to larger displays such as TVs.

Mate 20 Pro
This device encompases the core of what the Mate 20 series of devices will offer to its consumers. You will get the powerful Kirin 980 chipset built on a 7nm process. The chip itself is 75% faster than last year’s Kirin 970. The chipset is built on the Cortex A76 base while also supporting dual NPUs. This will assist each of these phones with day to day processing and whatever AI tasks the user desires whether it’s in the camera or through Huawei’s new HiVision and HiTouch.
The Mate 20 Pro will also have access to 4.5G Cat 21 which means peak speeds of 1.4gbps download speeds. These speeds will only be supported if the carrier you’re using the device on supports it, however being the first to push a new standard will pave the way for 5G. For now though, Huawei is pushing the envelope as much as it can on LTE. You can also expect peak speeds of 2gbps on WiFi on supported networks.
The Mate 20 Pro supports a 4200mah battery with Huawei’s 40W super charging allowing for a 70% charge in 30 minutes. You’ll also get 15W wireless charging and the ability to wirelessly charge other devices that support wireless charging. Huawei is really flaunting its battery capabilities and if you’re topping up other devices Huawei’s fast charging will ensure you’re always ready to go.
Not only do you get amazing battery life with the Mate 20 Pro but you’ll also get a high end camera experience as well. Three cameras appear on the back of the Mate 20 Pro. One is the 40mp main shooter, an 8mp Telephoto shooter capable of up to 3x optical zoom, and a 20mp ultra wide shooter. Huawei has opted to remove the monochrome camera from its current line up of devices though. They have implemented software to reimplement the monochrome capabilities.
The Mate 20 Pro also has a notch on the front, but for good reason. Huawei is hiding not only the front camera and earpiece up there but also 3D unlock. You also won’t notice a fingerprint sensor on the front or the back of this device either. There is one on this phone though, and it’s hiding under the screen. We will have to see how both of these unlock methods work together but it is nice to see both budding technologies on one super powered device.
The Mate 20 Pro has so many other awesome features we can’t wait to test if and when we get our hands on the device. There’s the 6.39 inch QHD display, 6gb of ram, and the new nano-sd storage. We can’t wait to see how Huawei’s newest flagship performs, but don’t think that’s the end of the excitement.
Mate 20 and Mate 20X
The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 X are very similar in many ways. Sporting the same Kirin 980 as the Mate 20 Pro you can expect incredible performance. You only get 4gb of ram with the base model of the Mate 20 these devices but seeing as they only have to push a 1080p display you shouldn’t notice too much performance degradation. You unfortunately don’t get the facial recognition system or in display fingerprint system you have on the Mate 20 Pro but you do get a rear facing sensor.
The main differences you’ll find with the Mate 20 and Mate 20 X are their screen sizes, and battery sizes. With the Mate 20 you get a fairly typical 6.53 inch 1080p display with a teardrop notch. You also get a 4000 mah battery to power the whole show. Don’t look at this as the budget Huawei device because you still get the amazing cameras. Look at it as the more reserved option.
The Mate 20 X is interesting due to its 7.2 inch display and 5000mah battery. While a large display and big battery may not seem special you also get a stylus with the device. If you’re looking for the newest generation of “phablet” then this may be the device for you. You’ll have the power to not only get your work done but also play games with the next generation hardware in this device. You also won’t have to deal with terrible tablet cameras on this device either.
Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design:
Huawei is back with its ultra-premium device and this year it comes in the form of the Mate 20 RS Porsche Design. This phone is a straight up beast. It adds not only 8gb of ram and 256 or 512gb of storage but it also gives it an ultra premium design of glass, metal, and leather.
The Mate 20 will be available in the UK for 799 euros (4+128) and 849 euros (6+128). You will be able to scoop of these devices right now so if you’re interested then don’t wait! We’d love to hear what you think of these devices too! In my opinion, for what you get for these devices the prices aren’t bad. We’re not sure if they’re coming to the US but know if they do, we are going to try our best to get our hands on them.
This device may look suspiciously like a smartwatch but it’s actually a fitness tracker. Huawei claims 2 weeks of battery life on this guy while using its GPS and heart rate capabilities. The Huawei Watch GT also comes with waterproofing to protect your wearable whether you’re running in the rain or out for swim. The watch also has a gorgeous 1.39 inch AMOLED 454 x 454 display.
The watch also comes with an outrageous amount of workout modes and settings for you to ensure you’re getting the most information out of your workout. Regardless, this should be a fashionable workout centered timepiece. If we get the chance to try it out.
Band 3 Pro:
The Band 3 Pro is supposed to be a long lasting fitness band that blends in with the rest of your workout gear. You not only get a heart rate sensor but you also get GPS in this version of Huawei’s band series. Huawei also has an incredible health app to help you track your workouts. This is nice because although the Band 3 Pro only has a 0.95 inch display you can get all the information you need on your phone.
The Huawei GT Sport and Classic will be available for 199 and 249 euros respectively. The Band 3 Pro will be incredibly affordable at 99 euros. No date has been announced for their release but we will keep you all updated.
Huawei announced a lot of new products yesterday and a lot of them are exciting. I really hope we are able to get our hands on the Mate 20 series of devices along with that slick looking Watch GT. We want to hear your opinions too. What do you all think of these next generation Huawei devices? Are they even worth a look to you or will you wait to see what’s coming next from other manufacturers. Let us know in the comments below!
We would like to thank Huawei for sending us over information about their new devices. We are thankful for their continued support of Onetechstop.
