Netflix will now insert video ads between your episodes, thus interrupting your seamless video streaming experience. Users are reporting this on Netflix Reddit thread, that a completely different show’s short videos play in between their episodes.
This is how a user explains the ads:
After the episode ended, I got a screen saying “More Shameless up next… ” then the title card slid off screen, and it continued with, “but first check out Insatiable” [a Netflix-exclusive series] and started playing the trailer.
A Netflix spokesperson tells Ars Technica that :
We are testing whether surfacing recommendations between episodes helps members discover stories they will enjoy faster.
On the Reddit Thread, they responded that the ads are completely skippable. According to them, introducing such ads in between has reduced the search time considerably. And, the further add that this is a test phase for now, and haven’t said whether this will be limited to TV, Consoles etc.
They further add that the ads will have only related contents, not any outside advertisements. Currently, the ads will appear only for a few users, not for all users base.
