This news is something good for OnePlus users around the world. In an internal meeting, the company decided to bring Android P instead of Android 8.1 Oreo on some devices. Today at OxygenOS forums, the manager Garry C says that the update will be released in descending order. That means, 6 will get first, 5/5T the second and finally 3/3T.
It is amazing to see that the company is still supporting the 2 years old 3/3T devices for the software updates.
According to Garry C, the decision to provide 3/3T Android P came from an internal discussion. Further, he says :
[focusing] our development resources on the Android P project instead of upgrading the device to Android 8.1 [enables us to] offer more exciting features and improvements for our OnePlus 3 and 3T users
Android P brings in more features to it, therefore the company has decided to skip Oreo 8.1 and move straight to Android P.
However, Android P is still in beta stages. Sometimes, in August or September, Google will release Android P to the public.
However, The OnePlus 2. X and One will not receive any updates.
Android P is the 9th major Android OS. It is preceded by Android Oreo 8.1. The OS will be released somewhere in August or September.
