Back in 2014 when Apple released OS X Yosemite then they announced their partnership with Microsoft to keep Bing as default search provider for the Spotlight. But after three years, Apple has announced that from now onwards they will use Google to show users web result when using spotlight just like they do in Safari.
Switching to Google as the web search provider for Siri, Search within iOS and Spotlight on Mac will allow these services to have a consistent web search experience with the default in Safari. We have strong relationships with Google and Microsoft and remain committed to delivering the best user experience possible.”
