WhatsApp drops hints about its upcoming Business App with the new update

WhatsApp beta has picked up a small update yet a significant one. The new update adds more to the possibility that WhatsApp may soon be releasing a Business-only app.

Version 2.17.234 prevents users from adding check mark “✔️” to their names. The upcoming business is going reserve the use of “✔️” for verified Businesses only, hence the restriction. It’s similar to what Facebook and Twitter do for verified profiles. It’s the precursor to a plenty of new features on the way.

The business specific app of WhatsApp will offer a platform for them to directly interact with their customers. Plenty of businesses already use it, and with WhatsApp providing first party support, business will have more tools for communication over WhatsApp platform. To facilitate worldwide communication for businesses, Structured messages will be translated within the app. Structured messages will also feature a new way to compose messages. Structured messages include actions, text, and images.

The business-only app will be available for iOS, Android and thankfully Windows Mobile too.Verified Business will have access to some special tools in the app which will allow easier broadcasting, automated messages etc. However, this doesn’t mean you’ll be flooded with spam or WhatsApp is gaining profit from this in any way, you’ll have the option to opt out from receiving messages from any business anytime you want.

Although WhatsApp is rolling out small incremental updates day-by-day, the major features such as Recall, Text Status, Live location are still missing from the app. We can only hope it’ll be released soon, and we’ll keep you posted on that.
