LG was quite in a trouble recently after their phones started experiencing boot loops. Earlier this year at least two class action lawsuits were filed over boot looping issues on the LG G4 and the LG V10. It seems like LG doesn’t want to give up and have announced a new warranty initiative exclusive to US.
LG is extending warranty from a standard 12 months warranty to a full 24 month warranty. LG says the new LG G6 Second Warranty Promise is available for new customers as well as existing customers. Though the warranty isn’t something like AppleCare or Nexus Protect as it doesn’t cover accidental damage due to drop or other damages.
This warranty covers only manufacturing issues such as boot loops as earlier mentioned. However, it doesn’t affect the Europe customers as EU Customer Protection require a 24 month warranty for all devices in Europe. It’s not automatically activated when you buy a phone, though.
LG is requiring customers to register their devices on the LG website within 90 days to qualify for the warranty. Replaced devices obtained with this new warranty will be either new or newly refurbished.
