Microsoft to discontinue development of Minecraft Pocket Edition for Windows mobile devices

According to a tip received by WindowsCentral, Microsoft is going to stop pushing updates for Pocket Edition of Minecraft for Windows Phones. However, it will still be available for download from store for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 mobile devices.

Owing to the low user base on both the OS, it does not generate enough revenue to keep its development going on. Hence the plan to discontinue working on it altogether. Now, all we could hope for is Windows 10 mobile getting UWP Minecraft Windows 10 Edition, but that doesn’t seem possible until we get better processor upgrades in future mobile devices.
