Nokia is now working on an AI assistant named ” VIKI “
For the past few years, we have observed major companies working on AI. Like Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana, Google’s Assistant, Amazon’s Alexa. Now Nokia who just have released their first android phone through HMD Global is reportedly working on its own voice assistant which might get integrated into their future devices.
GSMinfo spotted Nokia filling a trademark in EU for the name ” Viki ” . In the trademark its described as a “software for the creation and monitoring of mobile and web assistants working with digital knowledge and combining all data sources into a single chat and voice-based interface.”
While it’s not clearly stating that it’s an AI but it sure hints AI progress. Few days back Huawei announced that they will have Amazon’s Alexa integrated with their next flagship device in US. Samsung is also reportedly working on an assistant called Bixby. With Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana, Google’s Assistant getting popular day by day, it’s quite logical step for Nokia to get into the game. Having a personal assistant of their own might help them woo new users in the overcrowded smartphone market.
