Yesterday Microsoft has rolled out another build of Windows 10 for Windows Insiders subscribed to the Fast Ring. Build 14971 bring a couple of new features and improvements which you can read about at our dedicated article for build 14971. Along with these new features Microsoft rolled out a new beta version of their Get Office app to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring.
The previous app wasn’t really helpful, it was a pre-installed app which always installed itself again once you had upgraded to a new build of Windows 10. However, now you might not even want to uninstall the app anymore since it is actually pretty helpful now.
If you fire up the app, the first thing you will see is such a home section with kind of an overview. From there you can change a few things for your account, you see your recently opened documents and you are also getting an overview of installed Office applications on your PC.
On the left you will find such a classic hamburger menu which Microsoft has implemented in almost all of their apps now. However you will not be able to open and close the menu. Furthermore you can’t use the app in fullscreen mode, however Microsoft might add this later on although I’m not sure if you really need a fullscreen mode for this app. Overall the app seems to be pretty nice and a lot more helpful than the previous one.
