Long before the official launch of Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft had introduced new phones shipped with the operating system. Back then the Lumia 950 and it’s bigger brother the Lumia 950 XL were available as well as another mid-range device. The Lumia 650, with a premium build quality and focused on business customers.
While Microsoft was offering a normal version and a XL version of it’s successor, the Lumia 640, there haven’t been any announcements for the Lumia 650 from this kind. Probably because Microsoft is now focusing on business customers with their hardware section. Sure a bigger version could come in very handy for businesses as well but it’s probably not necessary.
Tough it seems like Microsoft had abounded the XL version just days before the official launch. Today a video appeared on YouTube showing someone install Windows RT on a Microsoft Lumia 650 XL. The video was probably made shortly after the release of Windows 10 Mobile and to show the similarities someone wanted to show us how easy it is to even install a tablet version of the OS on one of Microsofts phones.
The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL have been designed for consumers rather than for business customers what probably explains why they are offering two sizes of the phone and why they aren’t doing that with the Lumia 650. The next device from Microsoft will probably be the long awaited Surface phone some time next year. However, there has not been confirmed anything by now.
