One of the most requested features for Microsoft Edge in the Feedback Hub have been extensions. Those are available for Windows Insiders since a while now and Microsoft kept improving the feature through the last few builds so that it is working nicely now. Extensions are integrated in the Windows store by now and can be downloaded and installed from there. The variety of new extension offered for Microsoft Edge is growing as well, while AdBlock and AdBlock Plus is available for a while know, also Amazon is offering an extension now.
Kind of ironic, if you remember the Amazon related news a couple of days ago. Back then Amazon was in the headlines for removing their app from the Windows Store. Now the company is kind of back in the store but with an extension for Microsoft’s latest browser. The extension is called Amazon Assistant and can be found in the Windows store.
The latest build of Windows 10 for Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring is build 14388. Minimum requirements in order to install this extension for Microsoft Edge is build 14379. For consumers the extension can be downloaded and installed once Microsoft has released the Anniversary Update which is expected for the 2nd of August.
If you click on the ‘Get more extensions’ link in settings of Microsoft Edge you won’t be able to see the Amazon extension. Strangely it seems like every extension published to the store has to be manually added to this list. Probably something which will be changed once extensions are officially available. However, we have a download link for extension for you at the bottom of the article.
