Recently Facebook has published a new Messenger beta app for Windows 10 Mobile. The app is available in the Windows store and theoretically it can be tested by everyone. However, in fact the app is not available to download if you are living in the United states for example. The new Messenger app is a direct port from iOS, same as the desktop version which has been released a while ago. The overall design of the app, sub-menus and even the camera UI are 99% the same as the on iOS.
The Facebook Messenger beta has made available to download from the windows store for Windows 10 on desktops and tablets already. However, although this is a universal app the company didn’t offer the new beta for mobile devices right away. Now the app is also available for Windows 10 Mobile, at least kind of. If you are visiting the download link at the bottom of this article with your phone and it says the app is not available yet, the following steps should help.
- Change the Region: First thing you will have to do is to open the settings app and navigate to Time & language –> Region once you are there select either Germany or France in the drop down menu.
- Restart: If you have selected one of the two mentioned regions click on ‘restart phone’ at the bottom.
- Restart download: After you device has restarted, scan the QR at the bottom of this article once again and try your luck.
The overall performance of the new Facebook Messenger beta for Windows 10 Mobile is okay. Although it is an imported app from iOS you can navigate more or less quickly through the app. Though I’d expect the company to improve the performance a bit before they are going to be removed the beta tag.
