More bad news for Windows Phone users…
PayPal just sent an email notification to its WP users informing them that it will be discontinuing its Windows Phone app on June 30th.
Here is their official statement:
“For Windows Phone users, we will sunset the current version of the PayPal app on June 30. However, Windows Phone users can still access PayPal through our mobile web experience on Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge browsers. Outlook.com users can also use the PayPal add-in to send money directly from their inbox.”
Though this is bad news for many WP users who have PayPal accounts like myself, you have got to admit the app was pretty mediocre compared to its Android and iOS versions.
Windows Phone currently accounts for less than 1% of the smartphone market, so it makes sense they are dropping support. However, Windows 10 on the other hand has more than 300 million users, let’s hope PayPal makes a universal app for Windows 10 and subsequently Windows 10 Mobile.
