[Video] Windows 10 Mobile Build 14342: Store, Swipe Actions & Feedback Hub

Yesterday Microsoft has released a new build of Windows 10 Mobile and in this article we are having a more detailed look on the new build.

On the May 16th Microsoft released build 14342  Windows 10 Mobile for Insiders on the Fast Ring. The build  brought a lot of fixes for previous known issues and a for an improved performance. Since this build is also part of the Anniversary Update which is set to be released on July 29th, a few new features can be found in this release as well.

Builds released to the Fast Ring are always in an early stadium. Apart from some known issues which shouldn’t bother you too much if you are used to builds from the fast ring, there is one issue I want to draw your attention to. This is very important if you have not installed the build on your phone yet but are planning to do that. If your phone restarts after the installation of the update it can stuck on the windows boot logo. Gladly there is a workaround for this issue which can be found in our article: Troubleshoot installation problem with Windows 10 Mobile build 14342

New features in build 14342

Now where I have mentioned this we can talk about new features. There are three major new features of this build, first of all the new Windows App Store. Microsoft has released an update for the store app which brings an overhauled design and functionality. The update should appear in your app updates if you are using a Windows 10 Mobile build from the fast ring.
Secondly Microsoft added the swipe actions for Microsoft Edge again. In Windows Phone 8.1 it was possible to navigate forward and backwards by swiping to the right and the left. With Windows 10 Mobile this has been removed. With build 14342 the company has added one of the top requested features again.
Then there can be also found a section in settings called ‘Apps for websites’. This feature is not working yet but will bring the ability to link apps with websites. If you are launching the amazon website for example it will automatically launch the associated app for it.
A few minor changes have also been brought to the feedback hub app of Windows 10 Mobile.

To summarize, in this video we are having a look at the following four features of Windows 10 Mobile build 14342:

  • New Store UI
  • Swipe Actions for Microsoft Edge
  • Apps for Websites
  • Improvements for Feedback Hub
