Yesterday we reported the sad news that Spotify will stop support for Windows Phone, even for Windows 10. According to yesterdays news from official Spotify source, the app should have been removed from the Windows Phone app store and no future updates would be provided for the app, for those users who had the app installed on their devices already, they would be to continue to use the service on their phone. Gladly the company has changed their statement from yesterday.
Today however the company has completely revised their statement from yesterday.
With today’s update which is now live in the Windows Phone app store the app has been pumped to version 5.2 and has got some preparation for Windows 10 Mobile. So what the company actually wanted to say was that they are continuing the support for Windows Phone 8.1 users, but they will also bring a better experience with all the new features and design enhancements for Windows 10 Mobile users.
Here is what an Spotify Community Manager Meredith said today to the press about the future support of Microsofts mobile operating system:
Our main goal at Spotify is to offer the best music experience on the market, covering all platforms.
To clarify our recent information regarding the Windows Phone experience, we will continue supporting the Windows Phone 8.1 experience moving forward and we are actually improving our support for Windows 10 in our coming update 5.2, which will be available starting today.
If you’d like to see a Universal Windows 10 Spotify app, you can show your support here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Spotify-app-for-Windows-10-Windows-phones-Tablets-PC-and…
Furthermore they stated that the person, responsible for yesterdays news at Spotify was missinformed and published the wrong information about future plans at Spotify for Windows. This are of course great news, since with Spotify another big service would have been missing from the Windows app store. What do you guys think about the updated news regarding Spotify, we thinks its great.
