Well folks, it looks like the time has come.
In an interview with CNET at CES today, Lenovo’s COO Rick Osterloh said that the company would be phasing out the iconic Motorola name, while continuing to use the “Moto” name for it’s high-end product lines. The company plans to continue using the “Moto M” on it’s high end devices like the Moto X, but will also add on the blue Lenovo logo as its predominant feature.
Though many will mourn the loss of such an iconic brand, who you could track back to the incredibly popular “Razr” device as well as others, Lenovo says they want to keep the spirit of Motorola alive. In an interview with the CEO of Lenovo, Yang Yuanqing stated:
We plan to not only protect the Motorola brand, but make it stronger.
Though the glory days of Motorola are long gone, we can hope that the Moto line of devices will live long, and prosper.
