If you have a Microsoft Lumia 950 or a Lumia 950 XL with Windows Insider endorsed, you can now download and get the latest build 10586.36 on your phone. This is released to Windows Insider in both fast and slow ring. The updates are generally rolled out in Release Candidate (RC) phases with potential to become a final product and might also hit the non-insiders soon.
Henceforth, MS will not be posting blogs on their site (https://blogs.windows.com/) to announce new Cumulative Updates for Windows Insiders to test. As an alternative, there would be news on updates and announcements in the insider Hub.
Gabe Aul’s, the Corporate Vice President for the Engineering Systems Team said,
“Windows Insiders have provided great feedback on the upgrade experience from Windows Phone 8.1. We continue to use the feedback we get from Windows Insiders to improve the upgrade experience and this update has some improvements to that experience.”
If you have the 950 series and if you are enrolled for the Windows Insider program, you should be getting the update anytime soon. Also, people who has got the AT&T version of 950 and has the insider hooked up, will also get the chance to download the latest build. For those who have the 950/950XL with the insider authorized and the latest updates doesn’t show up, try reinstalling or at least reinitiate the Windows Insider App.
In addition, Microsoft has also distributed a cumulative update for Windows 10 PC, KB3124200, which would install the build version 10586.36. There’s no changelog so far, but the update basically aims to bring general fixes and improvements and no new features. Note that this is only for the public build 10586.
At this point, for Windows Phone, 10586.36 build would be too early to hit the Non-Insiders as they want some time to get feedback from the insiders before being pushed out. So for those who got the 950/950XL without the Insider subscribed, need to hold their horses. Furthermore, this is the last update from Microsoft for this year according to Gabe.
“I also want to set expectations for new builds for both PC and mobile between now and the end of 2015. This time of year many of us take the opportunity to spend time with family and take some vacation time, so the engineering team will be running at a slower pace and many of our key people who drive our flighting process will be out (including me 🙂 ) This means we won’t be releasing any new builds to Windows Insiders until January, for both PC and mobile.”
