Microsoft announced the Microsoft Band 2, and the successor to the successful 1st gen. band did not disappoint.
Microsoft listened to user feedback and produced a product worthy of taking over from where the original Band stopped.
The Band 2 is already shaping up to be a hit. Check out this promo video and specs below…
The Band 2 strap is made from
Thermal plastic elastomer silicone vulcanate (TPSiV)
It’s screen is a
32mm x 12.8mm sized AMOLED with 320x128pixels
Its Li-polymer battery can be fully charged in 1.5hrs and it lasts 2 days (48hrs)
It uses Bluetooth 4.0 LE for connectivity and is compatible with all Windows Phone 8.1 or higher, Android and iOS devices.
It has 11 sensors as listed below:
Optical heart rate sensor
Ambient light sensor
Skin temperature sensor
Galvanic skin response
It is also important to note that the Band 2 is water resistant
The Band 2 has a curved screen, and judging from the videos and pics, it looks pretty huge.
Cortana is integrated of course. In fact, the Band 2 doubles as a smartwatch, so not only can you track sleep, monitor your heart rate, but you can also read email, receive and send SMS. Even 3rd party developers can integrate their apps into the Band 2. For instance, Starbucks, Runkeeper and more.
The Microsoft Band will be sold for $249 and will be available soon, my guess is before the end of this month.
Are you getting one?
