I have just finished trialling the Lumia 435 from Connects who when sending the device made the claim that it is perfect for someone getting their first smartphone. So how does it compare with the first smartphone I ever owned, the Nokia 5800 that went on sale in 2009, back when smartphones were allowed to have resistive touchscreens and learning how to use them was all part of the fun. A lot has changed since then, people are doing a lot more with phones now and they are a hundred times easier to use, yet thinking back to all the functions that came with the old Symbian S60 handset, like front and back cameras and the amazing Comes With Music offer made it good value at it’s launch price of around £250.
Comparing it though, to a device today that is currently selling on Amazon sim free for just £62 and you can be equally impressed with what you get for your money: Services such as Here Maps and Here Drive, free OneDrive storage and the excellent Cortana assistant. The 435 comes with front and rear cameras meaning Skype video calls are possible. MixRadio is another excellent service available free out of the box.
