Kantar World Panel have released their latest smartphone platforms market share figures for the three months ending October 2014, which in most markets show that Windows Phone have lost ground to iOS in the wake of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus being launched.
Compared to last months numbers, which covered the three months from the start of July to the end of September, Microsoft’s smartphone platform has lost market share in 7 of the 10 markets covered including a 1.9 percentage point drop in Britain, falling from 9.6% to 7.7%. EU5, which calculates the share for the five markets in Europe, dropped by 0.5 points, with only Spain seeing growth from 3% to 4.5%. There was a 1.1 point growth in Australia where Windows Phone stands at 7.7% and a 0.1 point increase in China although Windows Phone only holds 0.5% of the market typically dominated by Android.
