A tweet from Microsoft’s official @lumia twitter account has made the claim that all current Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8 or newer will get the Windows 10 update, expected some time next year.
@_Y06_ There will be Windows 10 upgrades for all Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices 🙂 And we will release new Windows 10 models in the future!

Despite dropping the “Phone” from the name, and appearing to miss out a ninth cycle, Windows 10 is the name for the next big update to Microsoft’s smartphone platform.
This tweet may seem particularly interesting to anyone who remembers the “will it/won’t it” situation that arose around Windows Phone 7.5 and the possibility of devices such as the Lumia 900 getting the Windows Phone 8 update, which of course it didn’t, and the criticism of Microsoft (and Nokia’s) handling of the situation, with different messages coming from different departments. Here’s hoping that isn’t the case here. This is at least a good sign for those hoping to see Windows 10 land on current Lumia hardware.
Also in the tweet was a promise of new hardware arriving with the new software, a bit of a given, but no doubt added to avoid confusion.
Interesting stuff, anyone know of any hardware limitations on the current Lumia handsets which may prevent the above being true? Also, what about other WP8 handsets like HTC’s 8X?
