Many Windows Phone customers and patrons are happy with the new Windows Phone 8.1 which is broadcasting in a phase by phase way depending on the model and the region but we, online journalists are always thinking of what is next and will be content to see what is next. Consequently I came across a report which was alleging the release of Windows Phone 9!
I was thinking the “Phone” part next to the Windows was a typo but this was confirmed by many other informants and on many sites.
So Microsoft is currently working on Windows Phone 9 and the best part which drew my attention was WP 9 is hitting the preview phase for developers this Christmas! The PC Edition preview and the Phone edition preview doesn’t seem to line up but it may!
There are always “if’s and but’s” and before we continue further, I would like to stress on the fact that we are not sure whether the sources are actualities or just works of creative writing and thoughts since we neither able to confirm nor deny this information.
The source claims that the WP 9 will include many new features, one of them being the Multi-Window Option similar to the Windows 8.1 (Desktop) for devices with a screen larger than 4.7 inch. The Nokia Lumia 920 and 1320 almost have identical hardware specs of course the 920 winning in most of the cases but the 1320 has a bigger screen and 0.2 GHz faster clock speed. That’s it. Those 0.2 GHz will not make a big difference, so Microsoft is basically removing the ability to use multiple windows on 920 just because the screen size is 0.3 inches smaller than required! This is unquestionably terrible and I felt bad for my lovely Red 920, so did he!
I always feel that the Windows Phone Updates take a long time though it says the update will go on just for 15 – 20 Mins. My 920 took about 48 mins to install the WP 8.1 Update 1 Dev preview. I am hoping that this will be fixed on the WP 9. As we all know that devices with more RAM can run more complex software and multiple applications at the same time, I am not sure if WP 9 will hit the devices which have 512MB RAM.
The folder option in the WP 8.1 Update 1 has always resulted in extra touches. I was thinking if this feature was there on the left Swipe (which displays the list of Applications), it would have been awesome. The list view on the left Swipe of the home screen is a pain when you have more than 70 apps. Hope this is sorted out on the next update.
Did I just say next update?
OK, the next update is actually WP 8.1 Update 2 which is likely to hit the Developer Preview sooner than December before seeding it to production (actual users).
The good news is Microsoft reportedly begins testing Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 which will bring many new features along with broader hardware support and it is expected to come out in October.
Just two months away for the WP 8.1 Update 2 to be deployed (maybe to pilot phase I.E. Dev. Preview) but we already have informs that the WP 9 might hit the developer Preview as early as December. Again, WP 9 is a rumor as of now but whatever it is, Windows Phone is all set to be overhauled! I am expecting the WP 9 in the Quarter II of 2015 for the Developer Preview users and maybe a month or two later for the regular users.
Here is an image that displays the interface of WP 6.5. Do you want the start button back on the Windows Phone Edition like the WP 6.5?
