One of the smartest moves Microsoft made this year was making it possible for Windows Phone OS to run on existing Android OEM hardware.
And less than a year from that, we are seeing it starting to pay off.
HTC will be announcing a Windows Phone version of its very popular Dual camera HTC One M8 android phone.
And the guys at Neowin were able to get their hands on a high resolution press release photo of this device.
It has got the exact same specs as its Android counterpart, adn with the new software navigational buttons, it means all HTC had to do was load Windows Phone OS (which is also free to OEMs) onto their already exisiting HTC One M8, change the name to W8 and presto! The HTC One W8.
The Specs are the same:
Windows Phone 8.1
2.3 GHz quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801
32 GB internal storage; micro SD (up to 128 GB)
2 GB of RAM
5-inch Full HD, Super LCD3 display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3; 441 ppi
2600 mAh battery
HTC UltraPixel camera; 5 MP front-facing camera
HTC Dot View case
The phone will be exclusively available to Verizon users, though no official word yet on if this is a timed exclusive, I guess we will find out next week.
Soon, Lumia 822 and 928 will have two options, either the Lumia Icon or the HTC One W8. Pick one.
