Below is the AT&T Amazon Fire Phone announcement:
I’ve been in the wireless business a long time and I’m always thrilled when AT&T is involved in a breakthrough announcement.
Today is one of those days with Amazon’s unveiling of its Fire smartphone, powered by AT&T’s 4G LTE network.
I’m really impressed by Fire smartphone. Amazon has made it effortless to get to applications, navigate websites, access maps, identify music and videos, and, in fact, to find over 100 million items.
Every time I’ve shown Fire and its services, like Dynamic Perspective and Firefly, the response I got was “Wow,” because these services are so different and so easy to use in the typical Amazon fashion.
And, of course, only available on Fire on AT&T’s 4G LTE network.
At AT&T we’re proud to have had the opportunity to work with Amazon on Fire smartphone, since the early days.
What Amazon has introduced today is the result of close collaboration between AT&T and Amazon to deliver a product and a service that will wow consumers the moment they get their hands on Fire.
“We’ve been working with AT&T on Kindle for over 5 years, and we’re incredibly excited to offer Fire exclusively with AT&T,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder & CEO. “Fire puts everything you love about Amazon in the palm of your hand—Amazon’s vast content ecosystem, exclusive features like Mayday and Fire’s two new breakthrough technologies—Firefly and Dynamic Perspective. We can hardly wait for you to have a chance to experience it for yourself.”
One of the best examples of that close collaboration is the way we’ve been able to integrate Amazon’s Mayday function with AT&T’s customer care. So, if you contact Mayday with questions about your AT&T service, the Mayday tech advisor will then transfer you to an AT&T rep. It’s a seamless, warm handoff between the Amazon Mayday rep and the AT&T rep.
We know that Amazon customers don’t like to wait and know that AT&T customers like our AT&T NEXT plan so they can get the latest devices.
Beginning today, customers can pre-order Fire at AT&T-owned stores nationwide and on att.com. It hits AT&T stores on July 25th.
Also, we are making Fire available with AT&T’s NEXT program in stores and on att.com, which means customers can get Fire –
- With zero money down
- No upgrade fee
- No activation fee
- No annual contract
- A 24 month installment agreement with monthly payments of $27.09 plus the cost of wireless service on Next 18.1
Customers can also purchase a 32GB Fire for $199.99 with a two year wireless service agreement.
At AT&T, we love being part of industry firsts. We’re excited by what Amazon has been able to achieve with Fire and we’re proud to power it, so that it can deliver a great customer experience.
