Anyone who has backed up their Windows Phone device in order to restore all their apps to another Windows Phone may have noticed that the Start Screen is one area which does not get memorized. But, that is about to change as Microsoft has announced at their Build conference that Start Screen Restore will be part of Windows Phone 8.1.
Every Tile is restored
Icons/Images are maintained
Tioles grayed out until ready
Launch context is preserved.
Great news for those who swap between devices regularly, no more taking screen shots in order to remember the Live Tiles layouts. This type of detailed restoraration is available on iOS, Android and Windows 8, so excellent to see Windows Phone on par.

Just like windows 8.1.
Will it be available for Windows Phone 7.8?
I’ve not heard anything for definite, but wouldn’t hold your breath. In fact I don’t think it will even be available for regular WP8 (without 8.1 update) phones but we’ll see.
