Treasure Tag – Connecting the forgettable!

The most awaited Nokia’s Treasure Tag is here. Nokia has just publicized the Treasure tag accessory that works on Bluetooth 4.0 LE enabled Lumia devices. This is expected to hit the retailers around the world by April.

Lately, we got the Treasure tag companion app on the Windows Phone store which will supposedly work with Lumia Black update.

As per the App description which precisely elucidates what it does, Nokia Treasure Tag helps you keep track of your belongings with intuitive visual and audio guidance. Simply put tags on the things you treasure most and install this app on your phone. Now if you leave something behind, you’ll know where it is. With this accessory, you will never forget your frequent “neglectables” like Wallet, Keys, backpack ETC. and you can also use this as a collar pendant for your pets.

This Treasure Tag connects with your phone through NFC or by searching through Bluetooth. Once it is connected, this will give out a loud sound when the Treasure Tag and the phone are separated! If you still ignore the sound and lose them don’t worry, this is when Here Maps comes into the picture. You will be able to see its location on the Here Map.  You can also mute the alarm and put that into sleep mode from the Treasure Tag App.

You can have up to 4 Treasure Tags connected simultaneously with your Lumia device. You can now tag your key with one and backpack with another having 2 different icons mapped on the Treasure Tag App. Now instead of icons, you can also use a photo.

You can place every Tag on your start Screen as a Live Tile and this will be color coded to match your tag. This Live Tile will give you updates on when the tag was last seen. If you do a long press on the Tag, it would de-activate the tag.

This tiny device has a battery life of whopping 6 months and the battery (coin cell type CR-2032) is replaceable at the back of the Tag!

The Treasure Tag accessory comes in 4 different colors, cyan, yellow, white and black and this is priced at €24,90 ($29.90). There is also third party app to support Treasure Tag on Android and iOS! This tiny device has inspired another company to create a Tag Accessory similar to this but that is just in the pipeline! You can take a peek at that one here.

I am going to get one and clip one on my GF, just making sure I don’t lose her! Also, remember do not leave behind the phone and have the Treasure Tag with you, that won’t help 😉

The size of this little piece of equipment measures 30 x 30 x 10mm (roughly the size of a match box) as quoted by Nokia conversations and weighing in at just 13g, this is just a perfect must-have accessory for all.
