Nokia could be set to drop the numbering system used on all current Lumia devices with the release of Verizon’s exclusive Lumia 929 device.
We have heard various rumours about the Lumia 929, but the latest ones seem to suggest that when it launches, according a TheNewsTribe.com source, on January 16th, it will be branded the Lumia Icon.
Nokia have so far named their Lumia devices based on each models specifications, and if true the Icon would be a break from tradition. This is of course just a rumour from an unknown source, but it’s not outside the realms of possibility. Nokia have dropped their naming system in the past for an American variant. Back in 2011 Nokia released the Symbian powered Astound on T-Mobile, a version of the C7, which saw it’s usual letters and numbers dropped in favour of a verb, could the same happen with the Lumia 929 only using a noun instead?
The date suggested, January 16th, also happens to be just after CES 2014, which takes place in Las Vegas.
We will keep our eyes and ears open on this one. Read the post on thenewstribe.com HERE
