It would seem that a reader of tech website PhoneArena.com has been lucky enough to get hold of a prototype Nokia Lumia 929, which is yet to even be announced by Nokia.
According to the post, written by Alan F a “loyal readers in Mexico” purchased the device, which reportedly comes with a 1080p 5 inch screen in Mexico. PhoneArena have put a gallery featuring detailed pictures of both the 929, and some pictures taken with the 20 megapixel camera.
The Lumia 929 is expected to be announced soon as a Verizon exclusive in the United States. It reportedly has the same cutting edge hardware as found on Lumia 1520, including the PureView 20MP camera, Snapdragon 800 Quadcore processor and 1080p display, but with a screen size on 5 inches rather than 6. Alan, in his Phonearena post describes the Lumia 929 as a “litmus test for the platform” due to it being “the first phone (as opposed to phablet) that will match up a Windows Phone model with Android flavored models like the Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z1 and LG G2. Windows Phone has recently picked up market share globally”.
Unless everyone has got things drastically wrong, the Lumia 929 will come with Windows Phone 8 GDR 3, which is also known as Nokia Black.
Personally, I am very impressed with what I have seen of the Lumia 929, and as I have said before, am hoping an international version is released soon. To see the gallery for yourself, and read the rest of Alan’s write up click HERE
