Windows Phone Update round the corner!

There is a feedback site for Windows Phone, which lets you fill in your opinion about Windows Phone. Email will be triggered for every status change on the items that are uploaded. MyBlogNokia had subscribed to this site and email has been received stating that the request for adding file manager to Windows Phone has been marked as completed.

Along with this, the below note was attached on the email.

Apart from this, the request for having a Flick down to close applications was also marked as completed.

We are hoping that this File manager is a feature of Windows Phone 8.1 (GDR4) and option to close applications on the multi Task Screen is a part of GDR3 update.  According to Nawzil, who is a beta tester at Nokia, Windows Phone 8.1 will be launched during the second Quarter 2014.

So I hope the first quarter of 2014 will be more exiting with the Nokia Black update for the previous top end Lumia devices and Bitter Sweet Shimmer with GDR3 update! Click here for more updates on the features of GDR3 Updates.

GDR 4 2

The list of Windows Phone 8.1 features are adding

  1. Deeper Skype Integration with bug fixes
  2. 3D Support
  3. Notification Centre
  4. File Manager
  5. App List sorting
  6. Cortana Voice Assistant
  7. Deeper FB integration
  8. Touch Screen Hover Input (Similar to Air gesture in S4)
  9. Dual Sim build of Windows Phone.
  10. Stability Fixes

So far we have got only these details! What else can we expect from Windows Phone 8.1? According to sources Nokia and Microsoft are booked till end of second quarter, 2014. What about this December? I am sure that this December is going to be exciting as well. I went to a Nokia Store here in Chennai and they surprised me by informing me that they are expecting Nokia 1520 this month! They had taken down my name & Email ID to notify me when Lumia 1520 is made available here in India. I anticipate more exciting applications to hit the Windows Phone Store this month. Apart from this, I am looking ahead to update my phone with Black firmware update, but there are no official word on anything for December!

Be expecting, we would keep you posted!

    • When using the developer preview of GDR3 the “X” buttons on the top corner of each app does seem a bit disjointed, flicking down will be a welcome solution.
Any idea what iOS does? I’m thinking that is either flick down or up to close an app.

      • It’s up in iOS.

Flick down would be far more welcome than the ugly and sometimes hard to reach with one hand X button. Down would also align it with Windows 8 in terms of App closing.
