Just like the title says.. Which smartphone is the best entry level?
What is an Entry Level Smartphone? For me, an Entry Level Smartphone is a budget priced lowered specs phone that can get simple smartphone task done such as Emails, Social Media, Photo Sharing, etc.
These phones have recently been popular to the mass consumers as they are priced around $100 – $200 or even less with no contract/commitment.
Enter Nokia Lumia 520
Nokia Lumia 520 is a Windows Phone 8 Smartphone MSRP $100 but you can get one as low as $69 outright/no contract.
- 5Mp Camera
- 4inch screen
- 8GB memory built in plus expandable microSD slot
- Changeable back cover
- No Camera Flash
- No Front Facing Camera
- SIM locked
- Fingerprint Magnet screen
These are my notable PROS and CONS from my experience. Still a bang for the buck!
Enter Motorola Moto G
Motorola Moto G is a Google Android Smartphone MSRP starting at $179 for 8GB and $199 for 16GB. Fairly new device so its really hard to get one right now. You will probably pay more than the MSRP just to get one now if you are in US. Also noting Motorola just launched their preorder page for this device. Rumored ETA availability around December 2013 – January 2014.
- 5MP Camera
- 1.3MP Front Facing Camera
- 4.5inch screen
- SIM Free/Unlocked
- Non expandable memory. No memory card support.
These are my notable PROS and CONS. I have not used or tried the device, I’m only using the SPECS to analyze the device.
Here is a more detailed head to head SPECS comparison..
For the Price.. I say the Nokia Lumia 520
For the Apps and OS support.. I say the Motorola Moto G.. Now.. Now.. Before you jump on me on this.. Let me Explain.
Application wise.. Its a Fact that Android has more Apps than Windows Phone.
OS Support wise.. Google owns Motorola, the Software that is on the Moto G is the OEM Google Vanilla OS like the ones on the Nexus Phones. That means whenever Google releases new OS updates, 90% of the time Moto G will get it first before Samsung Galaxy or HTC Android phones.
The Bottom line: The conversation here is The Best Entry Level Smartphone and PRICE really plays a lot of factor in my opinion and The Nokia Lumia 520 wins.
Why I picked the Nokia Lumia 520? Windows Phone OS is rapidly maturing. Most of the popular Apps are already on Window Phone OS. Facebook, Twitter, ESPN, Netflix, Hulu, Instagram, Vine, etc. A lot of these apps also integrates to the system which allows you to use the features of apps without opening the App. Windows Phone is very user friendly and very simple to use straight forward OS.
Let me know what you think? Which phone would you recommend to your friends or family members?
