UK television station, Channel 4 has released their Video on Demand and Catch Up service 4oD onto Windows Phone 8.
The app, which is a free download from the Windows Phone Store was released today (Wednesday 14th November) is the latest big name app to hit the platform, and features 30 days catch up programmes as well as a number of whole series’ (known as “seasons” in the US).
4oD joins BBC iPlayer and TVCatchUp on the platform, and has the same offering as found on the website (as far as I can tell). Microsoft platforms are well served by Channel 4, there are 4oD apps on Xbox Live and Windows 8. The service only allows programmes to be streamed over WiFi, and episodes can not be downloaded for offline viewing. Unfortunately 4oD is not available for Windows Phone 7.5/7.8
