Tomorrow morning at 11am GMT Nokia will announce their Earnings and Sales results for the third quarter of 2013 (Start of July through to the end of September). One thing I like to do is try and guess the sales numbers for smartphones, which as far as I know only Lumia devices are counted these days. Before I do that we can have a look at previous quarterly sales numbers of Lumia devices, and how they grew/declined.
If you remember the first Nokia Lumia devices went on show at Nokia World 2011 on the 26th October (day after my birthday) when the Lumia 800 and 710 went on display, and went on sale from there. So the first quarter is Q4 2011.
With these numbers in mind, and the recent report that Lumia’s had sold in record numbers in Q3 I am going to go with the number of 8.3 Million devices sold. This would represent a 12% growth in a quarter which, as we saw last year, can see a lull in sales.
As for profit/loss predictions and feature phone sales, I am not sure… um, I don’t know… 60 million feature phones and an operation profit of €150 Million. We will see how accurate these numbers are. Generally I am over optimistic when it comes to Nokia sales, but we shall see. If I’m right who knows, I may have a career as an analyst ahead of me!?
I’d love to hear your predictions, leave them in the comments below. And look out for the official results tomorrow, we will be covering them.
