Windows Phone has remained the second most popular OS in India for the third consecutive quarter according to IDC figures.
Windows Phone has a 5.4% share of the Indian Market, which is one of the largest in the World, and while this number is lower than their share in other markets where they rank lower, such as the UK which is around 8% in 3rd place, it is still ahead of iOS and Blackberry. Android is of course the leader in India. The numbers cover the months from April to June.
In a press release issued by Microsoft today, they mention the Lumia brand which has been the driving force for the platform, taking a share of around 85% of all Windows Phone sales. They said:
“In India, there are over seven Windows Phone devices available across a broad price spectrum. These include the Nokia Lumia 520, 620, 625, 720, 820, 920 and 925. Each of these phones brings together the best of Windows Phone including Office, Xbox Live, SkyDrive, Windows Phone Store, among others. Along with Nokia’s signature experiences such as Nokia Drive, Nokia Music and Nokia City Lens, Windows Phones deliver the best value.””
