Bing, Windows Phone built in search app is getting an update, which has already started appearing on some devices and should roll out to all Windows Phone 8 devices in the next few weeks (sorry 7.x doesn’t appear to be getting this).
New features such as a separate tab for Pictures and Videos, larger image previews and requesting a definition of a word will now be available when you press the “magnify glass” icon on your Nokia Lumia (and all WP devices from other OEM’s). WindowsPhoneDaily were one of the first blogs to notice the new Bing Search options, and managed to get a statement from Microsoft, which is as follows:
“We can confirm that people will now see a refreshed experience when they use Bing on Windows Phone 8. The updated experience is rolling out gradually and will be available globally on all Windows Phone 8 devices in the coming weeks.”
Improvements to searching for businesses and addresses under the “Local” heading will also see improvements, with more information on a place/shop, and being able to call a place by clicking a box which is included in the results.
From the sounds of it only a few users in the United States has come across the new experience. We would be very interested to hear if your Windows Phone has been blessed with it. Let us know in the comments section below.
