Has this ever happen to you? You’ve encountered an error on your Nokia Lumia Device and needed to Reformat/Factory Reset, Or just in need to move on and give the phone a new home. Of course you still need to do the Factory Reset.
Microsoft Windows.. Window.. It always has flaws. Do you remember the BSOD “aka” Blue Screen of Death as they call it on Windows PC?
On Windows Phone 8 the most popular flaw in my opinion is the Spinning Gears when you do a Factory Reset.
I call it “The Dreaded Windows Phone Factory Reset Experience”
Why do I call it that? Because whenever you do it, in the back of your mind you always say please let me not get the long period of spinning gears. (crossing finger)
Boom!! and you get it.. Hours passed and Gears are still spinning.
This happened to me before just before sending my Nokia Lumia 920 for repairs to Nokia Care.
Anyhow, I ended up draining the battery and sending it to Nokia Care without knowing if my Factory Reset was successful.
To fast forward my story.. My phone was repaired and was sent back to me. Which I will be writing another review of my Nokia Care Repair Experience soon.
Last night I encountered another error on the Software side. I checked my storage and surprised to see it is nearing capacity and I barely have anything saved on the phone. So I decided to do a Factory Reset. (Oh No..)
Yes.. SPINNING GEARS going for couple of hours. I did some research and found a solution that actually came from a Nokia Service Support.
So I gave it try.. Why not right? See Steps Below..
After doing it.. 2-3 minutes has passed, the phone rebooted and came back to life! Yay!! No more Spinning Gears.
I hope this new solution will help you unbrick your phone from the Dreaded Spinning Gears. Good Luck!
