The launch of the Lumia 1020 saw the introduction of some cool imaging apps from Nokia and other developers. The Nokia Video Trimmer was among those apps, and while it didn’t get much notice at the press event, it certainly brings some welcome features to Lumias:
This app makes shortening your videos quick and easy, and works for all videos shot on Nokia Lumia phones with Windows Phone 8. Simply drag the slider to the start and end points then use the step controls to adjust the selection to the second. When you’re done, save the video to your phone or upload and share it over WiFi or a mobile data connection, but be sure to check your network operator’s data charges first. Exclusively for Nokia Lumia.
Video Trimmer looks to be a form of reincarnation of the video editing software that came preinstalled on Symbian^3 devices, albeit with less features. That’s due to change though, as Nokia has been very good with adding features to its collection of apps like Cinemagraph and Creative Studio. Hopefully soon we’ll see a full-featured video editor come out of this.
Although the app has recently shown up in the Windows Phone store, it is currently unavailable for download. Nokia is most likely awaiting the release of the Lumia 1020 before pushing the app out to current Lumia users. You can still find the app here and try to download it yourself.
