It was announced the other day that Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has won the European Communication Award for 2013. Sounds impressive you say but what’s it mean? It means that the European Association of Communication Directors (EACD) is recognizing Mr Elop for “outstanding communications achievements on a European level, and it is given to the individual or organisation whose communication efforts over the past year stand out on a European level.”
This is in fact an impressive achievement and it places Mr. Elop in some good company. Previous winners include Marc Bolland, CEO of Marks and Spencer (2012), Peter Löscher, CEO of Siemens (2011), and Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat (2010).
