UK Broadsheet, the Independent has placed the Nokia Lumia 925 at number 1 in a list of the 10 Best Smartphones.
The list, written by Will Coldwell doesn’t list any other Nokia devices, nor for that matter other Windows Phone devices, but does put the Lumia 925 ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S4, which is second, and the iPhone 5 which comes third. One very notable absentee is the HTC One which is regarded very highly among a lot of smartphone fans, however the 2012 HTC One X Plus does make it to number 5 in the list (behind the Vodafone Smart Mini) . Perhaps this is an oversight by the author, and shouldn’t take anything away from the Nokia Lumia 925.
Here is whole top 10:
1. Nokia Lumia 925
2. Samsung Galaxy S4
3. iPhone 5
4. Vodafone Smart Mini
5. HTC One X+
6. Google LG Nexus 4
7. Sony Xperia Z
8. Motorola Razr i
9. Blackberry Q10
10. Huawei Ascend P2
The write up to the Lumia 925 is as follows:
“The very latest offering from Nokia, this sharp, stunning and fast smartphone is really all about taking pictures. The camera boasts six lenses, next-generation imaging software and can take photos in low light better than its competitors. Snapper first, phone second.”
While it does have an excellent camera I am not entirely sure I agree that it is a “snapper first, phone second”. The article also make reference to the fact that the Huawei Ascend P2 has ” a magic touch screen that can even be used with gloves on” but doesn’t mention that nearly all the Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices have that excellent feature (as does the SGS4 incidentally).
