It seems that Nokia is back on the upswing big time in it’s homeland. Last quarter sales of Nokia smartphone accounted for 23% of all smartphone sales in Finland. Plus Nokia has grabbed 2nd place back from Apple in the Finnish smartphone market. Nokia sold what appears to be around 100,000 smartphones in quarter one of 2013. Now it’s a far cry from the 186,000 devices that Samsung sold taking 48% of the total market, but it’s a solid showing.
With the Finnish marketing being so small the next few quarters numbers will be fun to watch! Is the low end 520 enough to keep the Nokia train rolling and take some would be Samsung users? Remember if 43,000 users would buy a Nokia Lumia 520 and not a cheap, low end Samsung Android device the race would be even. If even 20,000 user would make the switch things would get a lot more interesting in Finland.
