I have been taking a look at a free app available on the Windows Phone store called Group Tiles (View/Download here) which is available for Windows Phone 8 devices for free, and allows you to set up sections on your home screen which is marked out buy a tile, as in the picture below;
Now One important thing I should probably point out, is that it isn’t the same as creating a Folder. However, judging by some of the reviews in the store, that is what some are expecting. When I first looked at it I was expecting to be able to tap the Tile which I had created and have access to any apps I had put into it, but this is something different, think of it more as a divider on your home screen. Which, considering we are using Live Tiles on Windows Phone makes more sense.
How useful is it? Well, if you want more tiles on your home screen but find you get lost when too many are pinned, this could be a good solution. The Tile is highly customizable, allowing you to create it in either small, medium or large, you can choose the colour of tile and select a symbol as well, then give it a name. In my example above I used a medium tile and put a boarder on two sides, but could have put blue lines along each edge.
It may not be a solution for everyone, but if you are needing a bit more customization on your home screen, or organization, it could be worth a look.
