Stephen Elop got up on stage in New Delhi today to announce the Nokia Asha 501, which is the first in the 500 family according to Mr Elop.
It has what he called the “Swipe UI” and the UI looks very familiar to MeeGo Harmattan, including swiping to unlock, swiping to switch between apps as well as to close apps. It also features an always on clock with notifications.
The device is 2G only, but was described as being “perfect for 80% of the world” due to it being optimized for 2G. It also has WiFi built in.
