When Nokia announced the Asha 501 there was a was a lot emphases on developers and how important they are to the success of this device. In keeping with that theme Nokia has a strong incentive to developers to write for these new Asha devices. What is that incentive? A free Nokia Asha 501! That’s right all you have to do is be one of the first 250 developers to port or create a new Java app to this new line of devices. But don’t do it yet this promotion doesn’t start June 1st. According to Nokia themselves:
Our Asha Developer Competition just got bigger and better. We have added the new Nokia Asha 501 smartphone to the competition and extended the entry period for all apps until 2 August 2013.
To celebrate this, and to help you with your future development efforts, we will be giving away 350 new Nokia Asha 501 smartphones to competition participants. Starting 1 June, the first 250 contestants who port or create a new Java app to this new phone will get a new Nokia Asha 501. And the first 100 developers who port or create a new web app for this new phone will also be given a new Nokia Asha 501. To be eligible, your app must be developed using either the new Nokia Asha SDK 1.0 or Nokia Asha web app tools 3.0, and the app must also be published on Nokia Store.
