According to India News TV, the Nokia Lumia 520 which was released in India in March is already the all time best selling Windows Phone in India. They report that Aduplex have released Ad data revealing the 520, available in India for under 10,000 R’s (approx $187/£120) has already claimed 16.9% of all time sales for Windows Phone devices.
The report also points out that 90% of Lumia handsets sold in India now run WIndows Phone 8. While no exact figures are quoted, they do suggest that more Lumia phones have been sold in India in the first quarter of 2013 than all of last year.
I do think that the Lumia 520 and 620 will be an important factor in increasing the Windows Phone market share, and to hear that a Lumia device is selling well in a country with a population of 1.2 Bilion people seems like good news. This comes on top of reports last week that the Lumia 720 had topped the FlipKart list of best selling phones.
