WP 7.8 Update IS NOT Coming to Nokia Lumia 710 on T-Mobile

If you were wondering when the heck you were going to get the Windows Phone 7.8 update for your Nokia Lumia 710 I have some good news and some bad news.  First the good news….Your wait is over and I have the answer.  Now for the bad news..the answer is never.  That’s right your Lumia 710 will never get the update confirmed by Nokia themselves.

Here is part of an email that a T-Mobile customer (and 710 owner) got back from Nokia when he inquired about the Wp 7.8 update.

“In response to your concern, we understand that you want to confirm if the Windows Phone 7.8 will be available for Nokia Lumia 710 from T-Mobile. We are sorry to inform you that there are a small number of operators that have chosen not to offer the update to their users.

It is important to recognize that this decision was made solely by the operator and these include the T-Mobile network in the United States.”

Sorry I wish I had better news for you but sadly I don’t.  In fact this is the second time in recent memory that T-Mobile did this with a Nokia device.  They did the exact same thing with the Symbian Belle update and the Nokia Astound by not letting any of their customers update to Belle. Lesson to be learned here is don’t buy phones from T-Mobile?

  1. My girlfriend’s 710 will be stuck at 7.5 then. Bloody T-Mobile, what’s their problem?? She was looking forward to the new Start screen she eyed up on the Lumia 810 I had for a while. Oh well. Probably get her an 810 later this year anyway 😛

  2. My girlfriends not going to be happy. Those poor T-Mobile employees better be ready for some verbal abuse. Good thing my 710 is unlocked and already running 7.8. I love the cosmetic changes. The nee start screen makes the phone feel new. I do wish it came with Skype integration though…
