A few days ago, while trawling through pages at Amazon to see how much Nokias were going for these days, my mouth fell open as I saw that the excellent E7 and the superb N8 were being sold at really amazing prices. I tweeted this immediately as I wanted to spread the good news in case any Nokia fans wanted to snap up a bargain on what were I’m certain, limited stocks.

My tweet (same as shouting in the street!)
I bought my girlfriend a blue Nokia N8 in January 2011 and it cost me just over $400. I bought myself a Nokia E7 in August 2011 and it cost about the same. Two great phones, but quite pricey off contract, and the only way to really get them as no US carrier offered either of these phones. Why was that? Oh yes that’s right, because they didn’t run Android. Ridiculous.

Nokia E7 for $249
Anyway, you can now snap up one of these beauties for a super-knock-down price over at Amazon.com. Not sure why the prices are so low for brand new products, but maybe Amazon are clearing a space in the warehouse. Whatever the reason, there’s more reason now to snap up Nokia’s premium landscape qwerty business 4-incher, the beautiful E7, or the phone-camera king of the world (before the 808 was released!) the N8.

Nokia N8 for $199
Of course, once they’re gone they’re gone, and we should also remember that Amazon prices can fluctuate drastically and frequently, so who knows how long they’ll be at these low prices?
Interestingly, the pink N8 is still up for $499, so as long as you can settle for grey, green, orange or silver, you can spend a little and give someone a superb Christmas prezzie this year.

My silver E7, before I foolishly sold it
Will you be buying one of Nokia’s Symbian beasts at these great prices? I would be snapping up a blue E7 from Amazon right this second if I hadn’t already snapped up an almost-mint condition one on eBay recently for around $190. The bargains are out there, and ’tis the season to be buying! 🙂

Coming from an E7 owner… it doesn’t surprise me that these prices have dropped and I wouldn’t be surprised if they drop even more. People who have even heard something remotely about Symbian are not interested in it – it is an aging ecosystem with no innovative new apps being developed for it. It’s bad enough app developers are shunning WP8 and 7, but Symbian, forgetaboutit!
I love my E7, but I have had problems with the microUSB connector and now work for a company whose own internal apps work on iOS only. If I want company email on a mobile device the only real option that makes sense is the iPhone. Plus I can get Instagram, all of the taxi apps, etc. The writing is on the wall…
