Our friends at WPCentral reported earlier that the Windows Phone Tool app is released and available in the Windows 8 Store. I believe this is just in time for the Windows Phone 8 launch in San Francisco later today.
A Windows Phone user could use this tool to sync media from device to PC and vice versa. Prior to this, you had to use Zune desktop app for transferring media and for updating software updates. On your Windows 8 PC, bring up the search and type Windows Phone and choose Store. Click on the first returned result and it will bring you to the Windows Phone tool page. There's a link the left to install the app.
The app will be in your home screen and you could resize the tile.
Once you open the app, you will be asked to connect your phone. Some featured apps will also appear. After you click on the Windows Phone app, it will open a link to the web version of the Windows Phone store.
