Nokia City Lens out of Beta, New features coming to Lumia 820 and 920 phones

The Augmented Reality app from Nokia; Nokia City Lens is now out of beta and available for download exclusively for Nokia Lumia owners.

The App was release as a beta version last May, and after much feedback and interaction with users, Nokia is now ready and have presented the final version of the app.

If you didn’t use the beta and have no idea what Nokia City Lens is, it is an augmented reality app that shows you places of interests around you, or based on what category you choose…

You can download this for your Lumia phones.

But something even BIGGER is coming, according to Nokia Conversations, a new version of the app is going to b e released for WP8 phones, the Lumia 820 and 920 in particular.

A new feature is the 3D icon layout, there is also a new feature that allows you to see buildings even if they are obstructed from your view, you will also be able to pin categories from the app to your “new” start screen. The Nokia City Lens app can now also be used in both portrait and landscape modes.

When it comes to innovation, Nokia is a front runner, I imagine Nokia and Apple going at it in the near future, these are the only 2 companies that have innovation at heart and soon, very soon Nokia will again lead the pack.
