New Update and more exclusive Apps coming soon to existing Lumia phones, (Bluetooth transfer, cinemagraph and more)

Nokia gave us awesome news today, existing Lumia phones: 610, 710, 800 and 900 will be getting the WP7.8 update soon.

While we wait for WP8, the new OS for windows, NOkia is doing their best to make sure its existing Lumia owners will not be left behind and as such they will be releasing not just the WP7.8 update which brings the new start-screen, but also more features and exclusive apps are coming too!

Here is what they say we should expect…

  • A new Start screen look and feel, familiar from Windows Phone 8, giving you a whole new look the moment you unlock your phone
  • Ringtone maker app to selected markets to create a personal ringtone
  • Contact share app updated to support sharing over Bluetooth in addition to SMS and email
  • Bluetooth file transfer to send media files via Bluetooth from your Lumia device to any other phone

The most exciting feature to look forward to is the bluetooth transfer of media between your Lumia phone and non-WP phones, this is a that has been missing from the WP platform, one that has hampered the migration of Symbian users to the platform (well this and real multi-tasking), We still don’t know if there is Real multi-tasking on WP8.

You will also be able to make your own ringtones too, with the ringtone maker built in.

The contact share app will be updated to support sharing over bluetooth or SMS or email.

But for me, even better news is the fact that Nokia’s lens apps; Cinemagraph will be making itsĀ  way to existing Lumia phones too! That’s good!

Also coming exclusively to Lumia are WhatsApp, Groupon (with augmented reality), Bloomberg, CNN and a whole lot more. Oh and before I forget, the Hit games; Words with friends and Draw something too.

It is great times ahead indeed.
