Nokia has just released an App that makes it really really easy for you to migrate all your content (contacts, songs, videos, apps!) from your old smartphone (whether it’s an iPhone, Blackberry or Android) to your new Lumia Phone.
It is brilliantly called “Welcome Home to Windows Phone” and here is how it works:
Download the “Welcome Home” App to your PC or MAC, connect your current phone, the app now scans it for all your contents including contacts, calendar, pictures, videos, music (DRM not included) and saves them on your PC/MAC, in case you are wondering how it transfers your apps from an android phone to windows phone? Well, that’s one of the great features of the welcome home app, it scans your apps and gives you the exact match from the Windows Phone marketplace, and if there isn’t an exact match an alternative to presented to you. For example, if you have spotify on you android device, it gives you the same spotify app for your Lumia phone, or if you have Pandora app on your iPhone, since Pandora isn’t available yet on windows phone, the Welcome Home app gives you an alternative, like the graffiti app or the radio controlled app.
If you have an iPhone and you are migrating the app even syncs your music via your iTunes software on your computer, cool stuff!
Nokia’s convinced that after the launch of its next generation Lumia Phones, users are going to be so impressed they will switch to WP8, and Nokia wants to welcome them home with this pretty useful app!
