This may shock some of you but being a tech writer is not as glamorous as one would think it is. I mean it’s true people do read my posts (thanks by the way I do really appreciate it.) and I do get all the latest/greatest devices to play with but, other than that for most of us life is pretty normal. We have families, bills, jobs, etc… we just happen to be super big tech geeks of one flavor or another.
Short of those few perks I just mentioned being a tech writer normally just means spending hours a day behind a computer writing stories that I think you (the reader) is will be interested in for just a little bit of ad revenue. But every once in a while an event happens that lets us get out and play, socialize, have a bite to eat, and make new connections in the industry.
Last week there was an event just like that sponsored by ATT in Philadelphia at the Union Trust Philadelphia Steakhouse downtown. The invite list was myself (@nokiaknowings) Jimmy (
@jjklee ) from Nokia Innovations and some others from the bloggosphere. @CyberAceTV @jennysuedempsey @manymobile @PNeafsey @Gmb73 @KyleLeishear just to name a few.
For those of us from “out of town” there was a limo that meet up just outside of Philadelphia than stopped to pick a few more people along the way.
But after picking up everyone we didn’t go to straight to the restaurant oh no we took made a quick side trip to the famous Rocky statue. We snapped a few quick pics made some corny jokes and hopped back into the limo feeling like the champions we were.
Finally we got to the main event at the Union Trust Philadelphia Steak House (www.uniontruststeakhouse.com) it’s an upscale place that had a gorgeous design and an endless vaulted ceiling.
From there we were led upstairs where a table of the latest devices just sat there waiting for us. Everything from Jimmy’s Nokia N950, to the Galaxy S III, to the Titan II, to my demo Nokia Pure View 808 all of which you could just pick up and play with at your leisure.
Than the food and drinks started making their way and it the real fun began. It was a mobile tech geeks dream come true finally a night to just to meet and mingle with a group of people that know and love tech.
But alas it is true all good things to have to come to an end and the night was over. A great time was had by all and some really good new friends were made. So a big thanks to ATT and special thanks to
@kwoman and @belltrusk for all their hard work to make this night possible to begin with!
